Population control is the need of the hour, Says President Kovind.

Edit
Population control is
discussed now and then after the address of Prime Minister on 15th August 2019
from Red Fort on the Independence day. This still can't be seen as serious
concern on the part of implementation even though along with PM other higher
authorities such as President, Ramnath Kovind, RSS president Mohanbhagawat and so
on has been speaking on it.
After the address of
Ramnath Kovind on population control on Saturday, 2nd May, 2020 when he
stressed upon the need to take steps for population control in the country the
populationcontrollaw trended on Twitter.
While applauding PM Narendra Modi onhis timely and effectively steps to deal with the Covid19 pandemic and ensuringthat India take a leading role in fighting the pandemic, the President alsostressed on the utmost importance on the steps to be taken for controlling
population in the country.
"Large and densely populated counties such as
India have to deliberately take steps, especially on the subject of population
control. Otherwise such disaster can have severe consequences in our
country. "said President Kovind.Soon after the President's suggestion, BJP
spokesperson Ashwini Upadhay asked Twitter users to trend populationcintrollaw
and express the problem due to population explosion.
It seems it is the need
of the hour to introduce the population control Bill and implement it as soon
as possible. The population explosion is not only harmful for the country's
economic situation but also for the natural calamities occuring, undernutrition
of children, poverty and many such devastating problems.
A simple data of UNICEF as of 2018 states that approximately 3.1 million children die from undernutrition each year. It says that hunger and undernutrition contribute to more than half of global child death as these can make them more vulnerable to illness. This, population control has got so many personal as well as social problems.
Until we wait for the
law to be constituted, awareness campaign and social education should be a way
to go out to the people of both rural as well as urban people both of villages
as well as cities. A government framed awareness and education plan must be an
immediate action as soon as the pandemic of Corona virus starts disappearing.
This can also be seen as first step forward in dealing with any such global
problem in future.
